Brands Hatch Super Touring Power
July 03, 2023
Barry Sime and Nick Paddy were flying the Swiftune flag this weekend at the Brands Hatch Super Touring Power event. Competing in the CTCRC Pre ’66 Classic Saloon & Historic Touring Cars races in their Swiftune powered Mini’s.
There were two races on Saturday, taking place on the GP circuit and sharing the grid with Pre 83 Group 1 Touring Cars. Paddy finished race one 2nd in class (12th overall), Sime suffered an unfortunate gear linkage issue resulting in a DNF. Things improved for both drivers in the second race with Paddy taking the class win (7th over all) and Sime bringing it home second in class.
Sunday switched things up, with the grid now exclusively for Pre 66 cars and racing taking place on the Indy circuit. This was a properly exciting race with lots of chopping and changing. Paddy came in third overall. Sime suffered with a sticky accelerator pedal, he fought hard but dropped back to 8th in the closing stages. Post race he was bumped up to 5th due to other drivers overtaking under a yellow flag putting both drivers back in the mix for the closing race of the weekend.
The final race of the day ended under a red flag with Paddy and Sime finishing 3rd and 4th respectively, a class win for Sime!
A well organised and brilliant weekend of racing that finished on a high for the Swiftune powered cars!
