SW23 - Race
SW23 – The most successful Historic race camshaft in the world!
We developed the SW23 cam for our own Historic FIA race engines and it's proved to be very successful by winning all the major races including the 3 Goodwood all Mini races over the last 12 years. Also used in many of our other race engines from Formula Junior to Hill-climb 1380’s.
This incredible win rate has proven that its not just from the top-end power figures but an impressive spread of power over the whole rev range. The old saying “torque wins races not just power” still stands and the records prove this!
Power graph #1 shows a typical Historic FIA 1293cc race engine running with H4 twin SU’s topping out at over 130 BHP @8000 RPM and pulling strong from 5000 RPM. On the track this will pull from 4500 RPM
Power graph #2 is a typical 1380 race engine running with a 45DCOE Weber. Peak power of over 140 BHP and pushing 110 FT/lbs of torque.
The success of the SW23 has led to many other engine builders using this profile. Trade enquiries always welcome.
All SW23 camshafts are machined from custom steel billet blanks! At the heart of it, a brand new blank designed and produced using the highest quality steel with specific base lobe shapes to suite race profiles which eliminate excessive grinding and removing the vital surface hardening. The end result is a camshaft with deeper surface hardening and superb wear resistance to add further durability the SW23 is Tuftrided after final grinding.
The Swiftune SW23 camshaft was developed using Lotus Engineering's latest valve train computer software to enhance the cam profile. Manufactured using the latest CNC cam grinding technology to much closer tolerances which are so important for achieving the optimum dynamics of the cam profile. The same machine is grinding cams for Top level Motorsport customers worldwide.
The SW23 is Swiftune's exclusive design and is not available from any other source.
